South Nyack, NY - Tappan Zee Bridge Falsework

Our project team provided the fabricated structural steel falsework for the dismantling of the old Tappan Zee Bridge as construction of the new bridge, named the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, was being completed.  The general contractor, Tappan Zee Bridge Constructors, removed the bridge in large sections with jacking strands to waiting barges. The smaller anchor spans were lowered to a barge with a huge, ship mounted crane, called the Left Coast Lifter.  The falsework supported the bridge sections as they were lowered to the waiting barges and then sent down river for dry land dismantling and recycling.
