Description
The entire project was designed and constructed within a 15-month schedule, with the major flue gas connections completed by working around the clock during two 7-day scheduled outages. Due to extremely limited access, crane support for the tie in outages was impossible. This required hand removal of 7,000 pounds of ductwork. During this same period, 40 tons of fan related steel and equipment was removed on a piece-by-piece basis within 3 days.
In order to meet the aggressive schedule, site work was started only two months into the contract when there was enough civil and structural information available. Daily expediting and tracking was implemented to assure delivery of equipment from around the country and world to the site. The start up of the systems during the scheduled plant outages went off without a hitch. Every move was well thought out and planned in advance.
Equipment Sourcing included:
- Brazil - ID Fan Motors
- Canada - Duct Manifolds
- Mexico - Fan Housings
- Alabama - Structural Steel
- Missouri - Carbon Injection
- Pennsylvania - Baghouse Modules
- Wisconsin - Transformers
