1960
Methuen Construction Company was founded in 1960 by Leon and Elizabeth Asadoorian. The Company had its origins in residential and commercial site construction. In the mid 1960's Methuen began serving private utility companies throughout the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This is the original office at 90 North Lowell Street in Methuen, MA.

1963
In 1963 Methuen Construction Company grew in scope and diversity doing roadway projects in Massachusetts and New Hampshire while continuing in the private utility marketplace. This is the maintenance facility added to the original structure in 1963.

1972
We're Moving - The new larger location at Lindburgh Avenue, Methuen, MA includes 5,500 square feet of office space and 7,100 square feet of shop space with 5 overhead maintenance bays to service our large fleet of heavy equipment and trucks. It was in this period that the ownership and management of the company transferred to Leon C. Asadoorian from his father who entered retirement. The 1970's were a transformational period for Methuen Construction as the Federal Clean Water Act was created with a goal to make emerging waterways swimmable and fishable.

1975
Methuen Construction Company expanded its scope of work experiences with its first major wastewater treatment plant. The facility was a new secondary treatment plant treating all of the flows for the town of Merrimack, Massachusetts. Utilizing its own carpenters, equipment operators, and mechanical trades people, Methuen Construction Company completed this project ahead of schedule and below budget. The Town of Merrimack continues to use the original treatment plant equipment and has commented on its flawless operation over the last thirty-six years.

1984
Methuen Construction Company opened operations in Phoenix, Arizona building water reclamation projects for the Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation and various municipalities in the fast growing Phoenix area.

1985
The construction project in the center of Methuen Massachusetts was the first major bridge project completed by the company. The project involved reconstructing a bridge over the Boston and Maine railroad tracks traveling from New Hampshire to Boston. The existing bridge was dismantled in order to rebuild the new structure below the five road intersection creating a very challenging traffic control and temporary road requirement. The project was again completed under budget and ahead of schedule.

1990
This project involved the replacement of an old wooden culvert carrying the Muddy River under Kenmore Square in Boston to the Charles River with a new ten foot square concrete culvert. The underground utility replacement involved a complex trench shoring system designed to protect numerous existing utility crossings as well as the disposal of contaminated soils within the wooden culvert before it could be removed.

1994
Covanta's Haverhill Landfill expansion required the use of fifty dump trucks daily to move one million cubic yards of earth materials off-site within a three month period.

1997
Manchester By The Sea - Methuen Construction Company was the General Contractor on this major WWTP expansion and upgrade on an extremely tight site location directly adjacent to an active MBTA commuter train line.

1999
Methuen Construction Company's first major design build project for Covanta Energy in Haverhill, MA. The company engineered, procured and constructed a 287,000 CFM, 26 module fabric filter air pollution control system including new inlet/outlet ductwork, 1250 HP induced draft fans, 15 kv transformers, carbon injection system, aqueous ammonia injection system, fly ash handling system, electrical switchgear, motor control centers and digital instrumentation and controls.

2000
Methuen Construction Company special projects constructed the new control tower at Hanscom Air Force Base including the prefabrication of the entire control room section on the ground and then hoisting it to the top of the tower.

2001
Moving Day - June 25, 2001 - We are pleased to announce our relocation to a larger and better equipped location at 40 Lowell Road, Salem, NH with 13,575 square feet of office space and 9,900 square feet in our maintenance and fabrication facility. As we grow and expand our services, one constant remains - Our commitment to provide the highest quality of construction and design-build services to our clients. This new facility is our proud testimony to that commitment.

2001
This challenging project located in Lewiston, Maine involved the separation of combined sewage/drainage flow within an old concrete/stone/granite culvert running beneath 125 year old textile mills. Methuen Construction Company's unique design approach to solving this problem created a new sewer line encased in concrete at the bottom of the culvert which would serve as the invert for the drainage to flow over the top.

2002
The Civic Center is a welcome addition to downtown Manchester, NH. It hosts hockey, basketball, concerts, the circus and other general events. Methuen Construction Company installed 10,000 cubic yards of cast in place concrete for the new facility.

2003
Anheuser-Busch Temperature and Humidity Control Methuen Construction Company performed a major upgrade and replacement to the climate control system within a major portion of the Merrimack, NH brewery without any interruption to existing production systems.

2006
Methuen Construction Company Facilities Services is created offering a full range of operations, repair and maintenance services to assist and support the ongoing facility requirements for our valued clients.

2007
CSX Baltimore - Construction of this dust control project required very timely planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of the work within the coal transfer facility, operating seven days per week and twenty-four hours per day. Coal was delivered daily to the yard in 100-car unit trains, offloaded by conveyors, stockpiled and loaded out by conveyors or barges and ships at the facility's dock. The control of dust was critical to the continuous operation of the facility. A new water spray line nozzle system was installed along the entire length of the conveyors.

Summit Metal Fabricators was established as a subsidiary of Methuen Construction Company offering custom fabrication including misc. metals, structural steel, process tanks and welded pipe assemblies.

2009
Methuen Construction Company participates in the installation of two new 1.5 Megawatt Fuhrlander 1500 wind turbines for the Princeton Municipal Light Department in Princeton, MA. Each turbine is mounted on a 215 foot tower with 125 foot long blades. Their combined output will deliver approximately 40% of the town's energy needs.

Methuen Construction celebrates its 50th Anniversary. (from the October 18, 2010 Eagle Tribune, North Andover, MA) Massachusetts State Senator Steven Baddour, Methuen Mayor William Manzi and Massachusetts State Representative Linda Dean Campbell were among more than 200 people on hand Thursday evening at the Wyndham Hotel in North Andover to celebrate Methuen Construction’s 50th anniversary. Methuen began in 1960 as a small family-owned business doing commercial and residential site construction. Now it is a full-service general contractor serving clients throughout the northeast. Methuen has won seven Excellence in Construction Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors over the last nine years. The company has also earned Anheuser Busch’s Proud to be Safe award and has earned Associated Builders and Contractor’s top safety award seven years in a row. 2011
In 2011, Methuen Construction completed the upgrades and expansion of the Westborough, MA Wastewater Treatment facility. The Westborough project was a $50 Million project involving the concurrent construction of numerous buildings and process systems showcasing the ability, diversity and strength of our construction team.
