Stockbridge Hydro Dam Rehabilitation - Stockbridge, MA
Methuen Construction was the General Contractor for the rehabilitation of a Hydroelectric Facility on the Housatonic River. Methuen Construction demolished the existing wooden canal gatehouse, performed excavation and all concrete work, while protecting the vintage circa 1900 waste gates. A key component of this project was the installation of a 165 kW Francis Turbine that is now generating electricity for the local power grid.
Much of the preparation work for the installation was done during the cold winter of 2013/2014. Methuen Construction designed and installed a downstream cofferdam required to perform excavation and construction of a new powerhouse for the turbine.
